An Israeli start-up has unveiled a battery that can be charged in less than 30 seconds. StoreDot demonstrated their pioneering progress at Microsoft’s Think Next symposium in Tel Aviv by fully charging a Samsung S4 smartphone from a dead battery in just 26 seconds. The battery itself is made of biological structures and functions by using crystals just 2 nanometers in diameter, made up of amino acid chains called peptides, which have unique chemical and physical properties. “Batteries are just one of the industries we can disrupt with this new material. It is new physics, new chemistry, a new approach to devices,” said Dr Myersdorf, founder of StoreDot.     Last year, the company received £3.5 million in investments to help develop the technology, with Samsung said to be among the investors. There is also talk of StoreDot working in cohesion with Eesha Khare, an American teenager who developed a…Continue Reading
We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. It’s great to be Spider-Man. For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen. But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro, Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn, returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp. There’s a lot going on in Amazing Spider-Man 2, and sadly it doesn’t always come together. The whole ‘should-they-shouldn’t-they’ dilemma of Gwen and Peter’s relationship forms a huge part. The more traditional aspects of the plot are…Continue Reading

Samsung has quietly announced the new Galaxy Ace Style that appears to be a budget smartphone aimed at young users. The device will be available globally in cream white and dark grey options, starting this month. However, there is no word on region-wise pricing and availability details. The Galaxy Ace comes equipped with a 5-megapixel rear snapper and a VGA front-facing camera. It also gets the One Camera Preview feature that allows both video recording and picture taking in full HD. Needless to say, you will also find Samsung’s popular messaging app – ChatOn. India is a very important market for Samsung, and we can expect the device to launch here anytime soon. The Ace Style will be competing in the fierce Android-dominated budget segment that has players like Micromax, Xolo, Nokia and others. The Ace Style should most likely be priced under Rs 10,000.
The past few months have seen Nintendo teasing tidbits about its Wii U racer, and this week it had a proper splurge with a bunch of sexy new footage. Sure, it’s got all the trappings of another typically superb, glee-filled, throw-the-controller-across-the-room-because-f*%k-that-blue-shell Mario Kart game. But most surprising of all, we found ourselves drooling over just how good it looks graphically. Don’t look so surprised. We certainly weren’t the only ones. Some of you may have gotten the chance to play a preview of the game at E3, and for that I’m jealous. But we’ve heard nothing but good things, and from this footage it looks to be a stellar and absolutely gorgeous game. A number of websites also got to go hands-on with the game and have posted footage. Here’s a preview of a few tracks from Gamespot… View on YouTube View on YouTube View on YouTube

Clearly, this is not what they were expecting when they asked police officers and firefighters for a friendly hockey match. There’s always been a friendly rivalry between NYC police officers and firefighters, but things got a little more than heated when their rivalry turned into a full blown brawl at a charity hockey game. One officer stated: “It was reminiscent of the old-time Rangers-Flyers games in the mid-’70s. I was waiting for [legendary Philadelphia Flyers enforcer] Dave Schultz to come out on the ice.” The fight started during the second-period with the score of 3-3. There was a 25 minute delay after the bizarre scene ended, in which equipment was picked up and referees made lists of players to penalize. The NYPD ended up winning the game 8-5, and no one was seriously injured… except for the FDNY’s pride. – See more at:
